Coherence/Gigaspaces going after larger clusters in Finance.

Speaking on behalf of GigaSpaces i can say that your statement above is changing faster then what we even anticipated. The financial sector is indeed the most notable segment using GigaSpaces in high-end mission critical applications and served as the classic early adapter. Were now seeing rapid adoption from what i would consider as mainstream market of online services with application such as online-gaming, online-banking, online-order-management systems etc.

Another point that i wanted to highlight is that our development framework OpenSpaces is opensourced under Apache 2.0 license and were gradually opening up larger part of our codebase.
We also provide a free runtime license through our community edition (with limited functionality), and for totally free license (full-functionality) Startup companies. We also provide a friendly pay-per use model for those running on cloud's.

This gives you fairly mature scalable messaging, caching and processing framework that is already been used in large scale deployments in production.
